NPTEL

ATRI opened its NPTEL local chapter with 300 faculty members and students enrolled in various engineering, science, humanities and multi-disciplinary courses. The NPTEL chapter of ATRI encourages faculty and students to take-up NPTEL courses with the help of SPOC and the senior faculty mentors guide the students in doing assignments and examinations. The college has also made the NPTEL course on Outcome-based Pedagogic Teaching Methods mandatory for all faculty members to improve the quality of teaching. 12 faculty members excelled in the NPTEL examinations held in JULY-OCT 2017, with 5 of them getting Elite certificate.

ITL –Interactive Teaching Learning Methodology (ITL)

The Interactive Teaching Learning Methodology was introduced in 2016-17. It aims to give practical experience in implementation of theoretical concepts and stimulates the student’s interest in technological developments and changing managerial practices. A separate schedule for ITL activities is prepared at the beginning of the every semester. A class of 60 students is divided into 20 learning groups with three members in each group. The concept-learning groups encourage team building, interpersonal communication and improve organizational skills.Case Studies, Group Discussions, Debates, Student Seminars, Quizzes, and Role Play were identified as methodsfor implementation of ITL.ITL activities have improved subject and practical knowledge, communication skills, confidence level, analytical skills, presentation skills etc.

EDMODO

The Edmodo is an online learning management system that enables teachers to share content, distribute quizzes, assignments, and manage communication with students, colleagues, and parents. ATRI has actively integrated EDMODO into its teaching-learning and evaluation schemeand utilise its user-friendly and student and teacher-centric system. This platform gives students new ways to engage, participate, and express themselves. Since EDMODO is available as mobile based application too, and smartphones are becoming cheaper and ubiquitous, it would be easier for students to use its resources. Since its implementation, faculty members have conducted quizzes, assignments, sent teaching material, received computed test results, among other things. The experience and results are encouraging and EDMODO would surely become a stable part of ATRI’s Teaching-Learning Process.
